2 Things You Need to Know About Seeing a Chiropractor

If you have never been to a chiropractor before, you might be wondering if seeing a chiropractor is right for you. Although people use words like adjustment or alignment that may mean very little to you, and may not be helpful in understanding what a chiropractor does. Luckily, with a little education, you can understand what a chiropractor does and what to expect when you see a chiropractor.

Who Goes To A Chiropractor?

A chiropractor can treat a variety of different of problems. You can see a chiropractor for chronic pain, headaches, pregnancy problems, acid reflux, pinched nerve and so much more. In fact, a chiropractor can treat many of the same problems a medical doctor does, they will just do it without the use of medication.

It should also be mentioned that it is safe for people of all ages to see a chiropractor. There are pediatric chiropractors who see babies as little as days old. There is something called birth trauma, where the baby's small body can become contorted as they are moved out of the birth canal and it can cause the baby to have trouble sleeping, eating and so forth. A chiropractor can also treat elderly people and anyone in between.

What Does A Chiropractor Do To Treat Problems?

The main question people generally have is how does a chiropractor treat these problems. It is commonly known that a chiropractor will not treat any problems with medication. In fact, you can go in for an ear and sinus infection and know that you or your child will not receive antibiotics. Instead, they will do something called an adjustment. This is when the chiropractor will take an x-ray of the back and spine, if possible, and see how out of balance it is. If the spine is out of alignment or balance, it will cause problems such as headaches, infections, pain and so forth. Then the adjustment comes. You will lie down on a table and the chiropractor will take your limbs and stretch and kind of jolt them back into place. It doesn't hurt, for most people if feels good, but it will help the joints and the spine get back into the right place. For something like a sinus infection they will focus on the neck and the face so that the sinuses will properly drain. This will correct the infection without antibiotics.

As you can see going to a chiropractor is an excellent choice for many people and can give you great results.
